OUR STORY
The ACSSC-UW Madison chapter was founded on love, compassion, and dedication for cetacean conservation. Kara Henderlight, an Environmental Conservation graduate student at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, realized the gap in knowledge regarding how communities within the Midwest can affect the ocean, both positively and negatively, and ultimately its denizens. With a background in orca, humpback and fin whale research, and local environmental education and outreach, she hopes to combine her experiences to bring a better understanding of these topics. The ACSSC-UW Madison chapter will spend time bringing awareness towards water quality, plastic pollution, sustainable seafood, and wild and captive cetacean welfare.

Where we are now... |
As the brainchild of one student, to encompassing a variety of others, the American Cetacean Society Student Coalition-UW Madison chapter was founded on passion and dedication.

We are gaining traction on campus and getting involved in the local community. As a new student organization, we are working hard to get our voice heard. We hope to engage and involve as many as we can, so that we can make a greater impact in both action and education.
